Oct 03, 2016 06:28 AM EDT

If you aren't familiar with Assassin's Creed, it is a game series that has a massive following and several sequels since its first offering in 2007.  Conflict in this game is about Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, against the Templars, who desire peace through control.  There has been a recent leak of what the next game will be, but many believe that it could be Egypt, but it could also be France.  There is also the movie coming up, and this is what is known about the Assassin's Creed film and its release date.

The Leak on the New Assassin's Creed Game

According to GamesRadar, there is a leak on the latest in this hit gaming franchise with what is a screenshot.  There have been several thinking that this is confirmation of a pyramid, as the reported code name of this next project is Assassin's Creed Empire

So what was one of the greatest empires?  Egypt.  Yes, there are a lot of fans who believe that this is a pyramid, and so the game must take you to Egypt.

However, there is another option that I am not certain if anyone else is thinking.  What about France?  Is there a pyramid in France?  Of course, the Louvre Pyramid in Paris, and it is made of glass, a lot like the transparent on this graphic.

So what about those obelisks around the pyramid?  Oh, there is an obelisk in France as well.  I'm talking about the Luxor Obelisk in the Place de la Concorde, also located in Paris.

Daily Star reports that there still is no release date for the new Assassin's Creed title to appear on PS4 or Xbox One, and we know that there will not be any new offering of the franchise, so we are looking at 2017.  However, the will be a movie based on the game during the holiday.

The Assassin's Creed Movie Release Date?  And End of the Video Game Curse?

The Assassin's Creed movie will soon hit theaters, and it has a trailer that you can see below which actually give a lot of hope.  Most video game movies do not perform well in theaters, as is evident by last summer's Warcraft and every video game movie since Super Mario Brothers

If you are thinking that it is strange that the trailer uses some futuristic science for some game that is supposed to take place in more ancient times, you should know that this was actually a part of the game series.  Most of the gameplay does take place within ancient cities, and the main character must parkour across buildings to achieve assassin goals.

It certainly is a big-budget film, and stars big talent like Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.  Expect Assassin's Creed to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
