Google released the new Android Nougat operating system last August. Majority of Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Google Pixel C, and Android One owners should already receive the upgrade by now. But for those who are still waiting for their share of Nougat, here's the latest about Android 7.0 Nougat release date on Nexus devices.

According to Android's official blog, the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will get an over the air (OTA) software update.

The blog also reminded users that the Android Nougat update for the Nexus and Pixel C devices occurs in stages and some mobile carriers will receive the new OS later than others.

After the initial release of Android 7.0 Nougat, Google is continuing to improve the firmware to make it more functional to users. The tech giant has said the Android 7.1 Nougat is scheduled to become available at the end of October. The firmware's 7.1 version contains support for DayDream, Google's VR platform.

As for the standard features of Android Nougat, it has productivity-focused apps that are easy to use. First, there's the Multi-window mode where users can run two apps side-by-side in one screen. The operating system also has Direct Reply function, which allows users to quickly reply to messages without opening any app.
