One Punch Man Season 2 Halfway Done; Summer 2018 Premiere Possible

Madhouse anime studio recently confirmed the first half of One Punch Man Season 2 is already in production.  The show's main protagonist, Saitama, is expected to return next season to face a new set of villains. With the current pace of production, it is possible that One Punch Man Season 2 premieres in summer 2018.

One-Punch Man cast Makoto Furukawa, Kaito Ishikawa and Yuki Kaj revealed September last year that the season 2 of the TV anime adaptation of Yusuke Murata's web manga had been approved. After the announcement, Madhouse Studio has been silent about the developments of the anime series' second season.

Earlier this year, news broke out that the new season is in the works already. On March, an advertisement for One Punch Man 2 was published by Shueisha. The ad shows a fierce-looking Saitama in a black-and-white image. The caption in the ad confirms that the production for the Season two is already in progress.

Anime studios usually take 7-10 months to finish an anime with 10-12 episodes. Depending on the pace of the production, the next season of One Punch Man could become available as early as Fall 2017. There are rumors that the studio is outsourcing some of the episodes to finish the job soon. It usually takes one and a half month to finish an episode.

Therefore, if the first half of the animation is already finished, there's a possibility that the One Punch Man Season 2 release date is sometime in fall 2017.

Meanwhile, other fans have argued that the lack of information from Madhouse about One Punch Man Season 2 cast, villains and characters is an indication that the next season could become available in Summer 2018.  They say more time would be needed to finish the post-production and advertise the new season. Thus, it would be ideal for the Madhouse to release the show in summer next year, according to Comicbook.com.

There are speculations that the Season 2 will follow the Hero Hunter Arc, which will bring Garou as Saitama's new enemy.  Garou is considered as the most powerful villain in the anime. He is equipped with wide range of abilities and physical attributes. His fighting ability is on par with most of S-Class heroes.

Some OPM fans say Garou and Saitama are two sides of the same coin. Both of them have a strong sense of morality and justice, but they show it differently.

For now, we can only wait for Madhouse to release an official statement about the return of One Punch Man. Readers are advised to take the rumors and speculations mentioned above with a proverbial pinch of salt. Stay tuned with us for more details.
