After Wonder Woman's success in the box office, expect many of superhero movies are coming in DC cinematic universe. Rumors are rife that Suicide Squad 2 will hit theaters sometime in 2019. In a recent interview, Rick Flag actor has revealed the production for the movie will start in early 2018 to get the 2019 release deadline.

In a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Rick Flag star Joel Kinnaman commented about the developments in Suicide Squad 2 production. When asked about the status of the sequel, Kinnaman said the script is almost finished, and shooting starts in 2018. "I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018," he told the publication.

The director for the sequel has not yet revealed, but Kinnaman has expressed his opinion on who should be the director. The 37-year-old actor and House of Cards star said: "I'd love for David Ayer to direct it, but if he doesn't want to direct it then someone who is great with character." He added the director for Suicide Squad 2 should be able to "ground the story" and put the characters in a more normal situation.

David Ayer is the director of the first Suicide Squad movie, which received many bad reviews. To encourage more viewers in the sequel, several movie critics say Warner Bros. might hire a new director.

Earlier this year, Mel Gibson is reportedly talking with Warner Bros. officials about the direction of Suicide Squad 2. However, as of now, there has been no confirmed director for the movie.

In the first film, the Suicide Squad team is accompanied with an elite team of soldiers. For the sequel, many fans would like to see the team operating alongside with regular humans. It would be interesting to see how these characters interact with normal people.

The first Suicide Squad debuted in theaters in theaters August last year. The movie also marked the first appearance of DC characters Deadshot (Will Smith), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). The new version of Joker (Jared Leto) was also featured in the movie.

Despite negative reviews, loyal DC fans still made the first Suicide Squad a blockbuster hit. It earned more than $320 million domestically and $420.5 million overseas. The movie grossed over $740 million worldwide, making one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2016.

To keep up the hype, it would not take long for Warner Bros. to reveal the premiere date of Suicide Squad 2. There's still no information about the sequel's characters, villains, plot or spoilers. Be sure to visit Gospel Herald to get the latest updates.
