Focus on the Family Applauds Order to Halt Gay Marriages

Focus on the Family founder and Chairman Dr. James C. Dobson issued the following statement today in response to the California Supreme Court's order that San Francisco stop granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples:

"What the court has done today is take a stand against the anarchy that has reigned in San Francisco since Feb. 12. While it is disappointing, to say the least, that it has taken a month for this chaos to be stopped, the court's order is without question a victory for the rule of law and the role of family in American life.

"This decision will hopefully show elected officials like San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom that they cannot cavalierly disregard state law in pursuit of their politically correct agendas. And this crisis, which has been at least temporarily halted, has hopefully shown the American people the need for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to protect the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman."
