LG G4 Release Date, Rumored Specs, and News: There Could Be Two Versions

There is much anticipation of the LG G4 in light of the success of the LG G3.  There have been many rumors concerning the LG G4 including the release date, specs, and price.  A recent rumor has surfaced that says that there might be two versions of the LG G4, and one of them would be the LG G4 Note.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, there have been some new rumors concerning the materials of the LG G4.  Originally, the LG G4 was thought to be made of aluminum, like the iPhone 6, the Galaxy S6, and the HTC One M9.  However, leaked images are revealing a curved plastic device, and ZDNet reports that the design and materials will be similar to the LG G3.

These reports from ZDNet also have led to rumors that there could be two LG G4 devices, one of them being a premium option that will be available this year.  This premium option would be the LG G4 Note, which will have a boost in its specs as well as an all-aluminum design.  So far, this is all we know of the LG G4 Note.

As for the "regular" LG G4, it is set for a release date of Q2 2015, according to Phone Arena.  Even LG's mobile Chief Cho Ju-no will not give any indicator of anything more specific than that.  If we look at last year's unveiling of the LG G3, that was on May 27th, and it launched right away.  I suppose that we should expect something similar from LG within the next two months with the LG G4.  The real selling point of the LG G4 could be the price, as it could be more affordable than the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6 at $100 on contract or $550 off contract.

Phone Arena also goes some speculation about the specs, as there have been rumors that the phone could have a larger screen of about 5.5 inches.  There are also rumors of it having a fingerprint scanner, which is important as the company doesn't have a device with one right now, and it could really use one in the age of mobile payments.  On the inside could be an octa-core Snapdragon 810 64-bit chip, and it will have Lollipop 5.0 (Android 5.0 or Android L) right out of the box, along with LG's updated UX 4.0 custom skin.  The camera could be as high as 20 Megapixels, making it significantly larger than the LG G3's 13 Megapixel model.

Much of the rumors of the LG G4 specs match what has been seen on other sites, such as Android Pit.  In fact, with the LG G4 could also bring a new stylus known as the G Pen, according to Phandroid

What is really causing a stir is the presence of LG G4 cases.  It is common to have the case unveiled before the smartphone is officially announced, and the case for the G4 is ever-so-slightly curved, according to TechRadar.  It is not as pronounced as the G Flex 2, but it is there.

So I suppose that we will be seeing the LG G4 probably sometime in late May or earlier, since the LG G3 was announced and quickly released at the same time last year.  Of course, you might want to hold off on purchasing the LG G4 if rumors of the LG G4 Note prove true.
