The River of Life Foundation, in partnership with the New Wave English Ministry of River of Life Christian Church and the Offices of the Mayors of Santa Clara and San Jose, will host its 2025 Annual Thanksgiving Fair and Luncheon on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the River of Life Christian Church campus in Santa Clara.
The Thanksgiving Fair is a free community event that brings families together to celebrate gratitude, unity, and joy through a shared meal and fun-filled activities. This year’s lunch will feature Vietnamese sandwiches instead of the traditional turkey meal—reflecting the event’s inclusive, multicultural spirit.
Guests will enjoy a complimentary Thanksgiving luncheon, live music, carnival games, face painting, balloon animals, photo booths, and interactive experiences with local police and fire departments. Last year’s fair welcomed more than 3,000 attendees, and organizers expect another strong turnout this year.
“We believe Thanksgiving is more than a meal—it’s about living with gratitude and building bridges of love,” said Dr. Gerry Liu, President of the River of Life Foundation. “This fair has become a cherished tradition that unites our community year after year.”
“Thanksgiving is a time to give—and a time to connect,” added Pastor Tony Chon of the New Wave English Ministry. “We invite everyone to share stories, have fun, and offer prayers for one another.”
During an interview with Gospel Herald, Executive Director Ruth Chon emphasized that the Foundation’s outreach demonstrates how faith can extend far beyond the church walls. “Our programs—like the Food Pantry, Operation Care, Free Tax Services, and Study Buddy—show that faith is meant to serve beyond Sunday,” she said. “When volunteers care for families of every background, people begin to see Chinese churches as open, compassionate, and deeply engaged with the community.”

As Northern California’s largest food pantry, the River of Life Foundation serves 45,000–50,000 individuals each month and has received the Governor’s Award (2022), Citywide COVID-19 Hero of the Year (2021), and the Austen Warburton Community Service Award (2021).
Chon noted that Chinese Christians are playing an increasingly active role in American society. “Through service, education, and partnerships, we’re showing that faith builds bridges across cultures,” she said. “Our growing presence marks a new chapter where Chinese Christians engage the world with humility, hope, and love.”
“At its heart, this celebration reflects faith in action,” Chon concluded. “In the fast-paced Bay Area, this fair gives families a chance to slow down, connect, and enjoy life with thankful hearts. Love, generosity, and hope flow from gratitude to God—and overflow into the lives of others.”
