'Dragon Age: Inquisition' Jaws of Hakkon DLC Release Date On PS4, PS3, And Xbox 360

The popular game of Dragon Age: Inquisition was released recently to the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.  It's first DLC (downloadable content), Jaws of Hakkon, has recently become available, but only to the PC and Xbox One.  The one big question for some Dragon Age: Inquisition fans is: when is the release date for Jaws of Hakkon for the PS4, the PS3, and the Xbox 360?

According to Gamespot, Jaws of Hakkon was released on Dragon Age: Inquisition as of last Tuesday to the Xbox One and PC, but it is not available on the PS4.  The reason for this has to do with an exclusivity agreement that is a special deal between Microsoft and Electronic Arts, owners of Bioware, makers of the Dragon Age series.

Exclusivity agreements are common with video game console games.  Last holiday season, there was a Minecraft update that arrived late for the Sony PlayStation, and it might not have anything to do with Microsoft owning Mojang, makers of the popular sandbox strategy game.  By the way, Microsoft has a deal with Activision that ensures all Call of Duty DLC comes to the Xbox first.

BioWare has confirmed that Jaws of Hakkon is coming to the PlayStation, but there is no confirmed release date.  The executive Mark Darrah asks PlayStation users to "be patient", which is only a sign that waiting needs to occur, but not how long it will occur.

There is also no word of when Jaws of Hakkon will be coming to the Sony PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360.  Considering these are older generations of gaming systems, it would be no surprise if the update never comes at all.  There hasn't been any formal announcement of that if that is the case.

According to Game Informer, the Jaws of Hakkon DLC "introduces plot points regarding warring Avvar tribes, long-lost gods, and the leader of the Inquisition's last incarnation 800 years in the past".  Reviews of the game, like one on Game Informer and Eurogamer, have essentially describe it has "more of the same" but still a decent-playing DLC.

For those unfamiliar with Dragon Age: Inquisition, it is third in the Dragon Age franchise.  The first offerings were Dragon Age: Origins in 2009, and Dragon Age II was released in 2011.  Dragon Age: Inquisition was released during the holiday season last year, and it was met with critical praise.

The game is set in a fictional kingdom of Ferelden and has a role-playing style a lot like Dungeons and Dragons.  The player can choose to be a certain class of character, and then go into a world filled full of quests and adventures.  Bioware described it as "a dark heroic fantasy set in a unique world", and the Dragon Age series is also described as a spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series of games which took place in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting of Dungeons and Dragons.

Xbox One and PC users can download the Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC Jaws of Hakkon now for about $15.  As for Sony PlayStation 4, you will have to wait.  Hopefully Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 users will not have to wait forever.
