Joyful Noise Express (jnX) returned from their first mission trip to the Philippines, which lasted from May 2 till 16th. On their trip, they visited Jesus Our King Ministry in Cagayan De Oro and Chinese Cebu Gospel Church in Cebu City and ministered to the Christians involved with music ministries through hosting workshops and leading praise and worship during their services. Through these events, those already involved in music ministries can be training to carry out the great commission.

While they were in Cagayan De Oro, jnx held workshops training 74 people from a total of 16 churches, who were all invited by Pastor Alex. They went through 3 day workshops on topics such as how to build worship team. Young people came forward to commit themselves to evangelize others.

In addition to their tasks, they also experienced some difficulties from the hot and humid weather, poverty-stricken condition, lacking in food even though the natives offered their best, and cultural and language barriers.

“Even though we have gone to India five times in the past, the trip to Philippines was by far the most difficult. Even though that is the case, we still felt blessed to be used in this way, and we are also humbled,” said Anthony Chan, director of jnX.

The second destination is Cebu City, where they ministered at a Chinese Church called Cebu Gospel Church. The church also invited the other three Chinese churches in Cebu City to attend the praise service.

Reflection upon the mission tour, Anthony said, “We learn a lot from them in their commitment in the midst of their difficulties, but we also feel very humbled for God to use us to administer cross-culture. We felt very blessed and overwhelmed. Our priorities are always being readjusted. We must put God’s kingdom as first priority.”
