Much of the focus on Motorola's phones like the Moto G and Moto X is about when they will get the latest version of Android, but another question is when will the Moto G and Moto X get 2015 editions?  After all, the Moto G and Moto X have both had second generation models, so it only stands to reason that a third generation is on the way, and this is what we know about the new Moto G (aka Moto G3 or Moto G 3rd generation) and Moto X (also known as Moto X3 or Moto X 3rd Generation) release dates.

According to the Venture Capital Post, there was a "random leak" of a 2-minute video with a series of pictures of what appears to be the new Moto G 3rd generation.  This video shows a 5-inch 720p display, 13 Megapixel rear camera, a 5 Megapixel front camera, as well as Android 5.1.1.  Considering that Android M is on the way, I would imagine that the phone would be upgradeable to the latest version of the Android operating system soon after its release date.

According to The Latino Post, the Moto G 2015 or third generation is going to have a 5 inch or 5.2 inch display.  It will also have 8 GB of memory and rumored to come with a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 SoC supported by 2 GB of RAM and 4G LTE capability, which will be considered the "best aspect" of the 3rd generation of this smartphone.

As for the third generation of the Moto X, there was also a leak that came from the STJS Gadgets Portal.  The specs include a QHD (2560 x 1440) screen similar to the Motorola Droid Turbo.  This report also states that the 3rd Gen Moto X will run on the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset, have a 16 Megapixel primary camera, a 5 Megapixel secondary camera, a 3,280 mAh battery, a whopping 4 GB of RAM, and also have Android 5.1.1 right out of the box.

These specs are different from the ones reported by Phone Arena, there has been a leak of the third generation Motorola Moto X specs.  From what it looks like, the 2015 Moto X will have a 5.2-inch screen (1440 x 2560 resolution) which is identical to that of the DROID Turbo.  There will be two variants, one with 32 GB and the other with 64 GB.  Everything else matches as far as the specs are considered.

The Motorola Moto G and the Moto X, both 3rd Generation, are both due this year.  In fact, the Moto G 3 is speculated to be due out in June or July and the Moto X 3 will be appearing in August.   Granted, these are speculative dates, so the actual release dates of these two new Android-powered Motorola smartphones might come later rather than sooner, but it certainly looks like they will be available for the holiday season.
