Sony Xperia Z5 Release Date: Sony Teases Model with Exceptional Autofocus Camera, Release Set on IFA 2015

Sony's next-generation Xperia Z5 has literally been leaking almost everyday in the past weeks. On Tuesday, the company finally joined the party by sharing its very own teaser.

The Japanese device maker's official Twitter account for Great Britain has posted a photo suggesting that a smartphone with "greater focus" will be revealed on September 2, 2015.

The tweet, which you can see below, features a fuzzy image of someone's hand holding a smartphone while taking a photo of a certain tourist spot. That device is widely believed to be the new Xperia Z5 smartphone and Sony's teaser likely alludes to its camera's improved autofocus feature.

While the photo is intentionally blurred out, the device depicted in it is still discernable and apparently sports Sony's longstanding OmniBalance design. The concept has been used for the first Xperia handset and this new picture indicates that the device maker is about to unveil another symmetrical and rectangular handset.

On the other hand, it is also possible that the tweet does not refer to the device's camera but to Sony's new software focus. Last month, the company said that it has been testing a new "Concept for Android" which is basically a firmware with minimal modifications based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Sony has yet to share the upcoming model's specifications, but there are numerous reports pointing to a smartphone with a 5- or 5.5-inch QHD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, and 3 or 4GB of RAM. Its renowned camera combo will have a 20.7-megapixel rear sensor with LED flash, 4K video recording, and a 5-megapixel variant for the front shooter.

Users may also enjoy using the unreleased smartphone longer thanks to a 4,500mAh battery. However, nothing has been shared whether the device will have fast-charge or wireless charging support-features that are increasingly becoming common among flagships nowadays.

If the Xperia Z5 is not enough, Sony is also said to unveil a handful of devices which will likely include a smaller Xperia Z5 Compact and a larger Xperia Z5 Plus phablet. The Z5 Plus will reportedly be the first smartphone to ever feature a 4K display.

The date mentioned in the tweet actually falls immediately before the IFA 2015 event, which will begin on September 3 in Berlin. The photo also appears to portray the German capital's famous 18th-century Brandenburg Gate, further suggesting that an IFA launch is indeed coming.
