The Seattle Seahawks finally proved why they were the NFL team that faced the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl last season. Serving a crushing 26 - 0 loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday (September 27), the Russell Wilson squad showed the football community that the slump is over - that is, he and his team will no longer allow the Seattle Seahawks to continue down the path of downward spiral, but will take the team back to its former glory.

Apart from the renewed vigor by which Marshawn Lynch, Jimmy Graham and Tyler Lockett fought their way to victory against the Chicago Bears, the Seattle Seahawks welcomed back strong safety Kam Chancellor. The return of one of the most formidable leaders of the Seattle Seahawks undoubtedly boosted the performance of Russell Wilson and the rest of the team.

"You could just see,'' shared Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, according to Seattle Times. He added, "He [Kam Chancellor] made us whole again." The victory of the Seattle Seahawks over the Chicago Bears was no ordinary win - it was a shutout. According to the returning safety, such victory achieved by the Seattle Seahawks would definitely make a statement in the entire football community. "It was big,'' stated Kam Chancellor, referring to the win of the Seattle Seahawks over the Chicago Bears. The Seattle Seahawks starting safety added, "You want to not let a team score. You want to suffocate a team. I think it's big for our defensive staff, for the players, for everybody, because it sends a statement."

It could be recalled that prior to the return of Kam Chancellor, the Seattle Seahawks leaned heavily on Dion Bailey to take on the position. Jimmy Graham, Russell Wilson and even Marshawn Lynch had been seen attempting to connect with the then starting strong safety, but to no avail. The first two NFL games that saw Dion Bailey take over the post of Kam Chancellor saw the Seattle Seahawks lose to both the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Rams. For the rest of the NFL season, fans and followers of Dion Bailey will now have to root for him as the strong safety of the New York Jets.

Meanwhile, the massive win of the Seattle Seahawks over the Chicago Bears also brought with it a loss. According to sources, Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch incurred a serious hamstring injury during the said NFL match. As of the latest report on his status, the Seattle Seahawks tailback is said to be scheduled for an MRI on Monday. However, it will not be until Friday when the Seattle Seahawks will know for sure if Marshawn Lynch can play in the next match. "We are taking care of him and rehabbing him," Carroll said. "His hamstring seemed to bother him a little bit in the middle of the game so we are going to just take care of that. Fortunately we have an extra day, helps a little bit. But we really won't know unitl we get the week started and we start practicing."

The Seattle Seahawks will be facing the Detroit Lions next for Week 4 of the regular NFL season. The match is scheduled on October 5, 8:30 pm ET, at CenturyLink Field.
