Mortal Kombat X DLC Update Kombat Pack 2 Release Date and Characters; Will It be Released Before Street Fighter V?

Ed Boon, who is in charge of the Mortal Kombat franchise that has lasted more than two decades, set the world wondering when he revealed on Twitter that a Kombat Pack 2 DLC (downloadable content) would be available soon for Mortal Kombat X.  The big question came from the four silhouettes seen, as if it was some new clue as to what playable characters would be coming with the next Kombat Pack 2.  Here's about everything we know about Mortal Kombat X DLC Update Kombat Pack 2 Release Date and Characters.

PlayStation Universe has been quick to bring up that one of these characters could be Smoke.  This was a character and fan favorite from the 2011 edition of Mortal Kombat, and his absence on the Mortal Kombat X is curious to say the least.  He is briefly seen during a faction kill within the game, but there are probably those looking to see him as a player character.

According to MNR Daily, another Mortal Kombat cast member that could be part of this Kombat Pack 2 could be Baraka, who first appeared in Mortal Kombat II.  Players can fight against Baraka in the main campaign of Mortal Kombat X, but there has been demand to make him a player character.

Considering there are four silhouettes and a finite amount of Mortal Kombat player characters throughout the years, it would seem easy to guess who the mysterious new player characters will be.  However, what if the amount of fighters became infinite?  After all, Mortal Kombat has used characters form other franchises such as Jason Vorhees and Predator, so it could branch out even more.

Many are convinced that one of the mysterious four is Spawn, the antihero from the afterlife that was made popular through Image Comics, plus a live-action movie and animated TV series.  The creator of Spawn, Todd McFarlane, has apparently given Warner Brothers Interactive the rights to use the character in the game, but none of those silhouettes bear a resemblance to Spawn with his trademark high-collar cape.

As for the release date of Mortal Kombat Kombat Pack 2, it hasn't been fixed as yet.  We only have the year 2016, but if NetherRealm, the developer of this franchise is smart, they will have it out before February 16th, 2016.  Why this date?  Because there will be another similar offering from a fighting game franchise released in North America on that date, and I am talking about Capcom's Street Fighter V

Both Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are fighting game franchises that have been around for two decades, and they kind of have a rivalry going between them.  It just makes sense that NetherRealm would have new DLC ready for its players to compete with the release of the latest offering of Street Fighter.  However, we shall see early next year, as NetherRealm will probably make a formal announcement of Kombat Pack 2's release date and characters before then.
