Android 6.0 and 6.01 Marshmallow Update Release Date For HTC One M7, One M8, One M9 on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, US Cellular, and T-Mobile

Now that Android 6.0, also known as Android Marshmallow or simply Android M, has been out for about two months, every Android user is wondering when they can get it on their new (less than two years old) devices.  Google makes certain that the latest of its Android operating system goes to its Nexus devices, and then it slowly rolls out to everyone else, like HTC.  This is the latest news about the Android M Version 6.0 and 6.01 Marshmallow Update Release Date for HTC One M7, M8, M9 for Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, US Cellular, and T-Mobile.

According to Know Your Mobile, HTC has begun "seeding" Android Marshmallow to the HTC One M8.  This seems very odd as the HTC One M9 has received its update as yet.  Generally, the newer phones get the newest update first, but there are exceptions to every rule.  In this case, it could be related to the fact that there are a lot more M8 handsets than M9.

Trusted Reviews has confirmed that the HTC One M8 will probably be receiving its Android upgrade soon, assuming it hasn't already.  This actually isn't really a surprise, as both the HTC One M9 and the HTC One M8 were slated to receive Android Marshmallow at "the beginning end of 2015".

This promise comes from HTC itself, who also promised to upgrade other phones sometime in 2016.  The list includes the HTC One M9+, HTC One E9+, HTC One M8, HTC One E9, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One M8 Eye, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC Desire 826, HTC Desire 820, and HTC Desire 816.

Fortunately, HTC has this promise that they make where they target the next Android upgrade within 90 days of its release.  Unfortunately, the latest news from HTC's Head of Product Management Mo Versi is a tweet on December 7th, where he said:  "Lots of questions on this, so quick update: M9 unlocked Marshmallow OS update and A9 6.0.1 (with updated emoji) is on target for this month".  Versi hasn't tweeted anything since then, not even to comment about the HTC One M8 rollout.

It is interesting that Versi says that the HTC One A9 (not to be confused with the M9) is going to get Android 6.0.1 very soon.  That is a step up from Android 6.0, which the One A9 already has out of the box.  Right now, that is the only way to get Marshmallow from HTC with this recently revealed smartphone.

So yes, there isn't any specific release dates for when Marshmallow will come to the whole HTC lineup, but we know for certain that the HTC One M7, a smartphone that is over two years old, will not be receiving it.

Hopefully, both HTC One M8 and M9 users will have their promise kept, and receive their Marshmallow update before Christmas or New Year's Day.
