Sony Xperia X, XA and X Performance Release Date, Review, Price and Specs

Sony revealed the new range of Xperia series on MWC 2016. Named as Xperia X, this new smartphone lineup is said to replace the old Xperia Z phones. The tech company stressed that the X series represents a new chapter for the Xperia brand.

The flagship smartphones are Xperia XA, the mid-range Xperia X, and Xperia X Performance. Many tech websites claim the X lineup has two main standout features: camera and battery life. Also, these three devices have revamped design, water and dust protection and new operating software.

Sony Xperia X Release date, price & availability

After revealing the Xperia X series on February's MWC 2016, Sony has not yet announced the price range and the release date of the devices. PC Advisor predicted that the devices will arrive at some point in the summer. Interested buyers can now pre-order the devices at MobileFun. Also, many mobile carriers and networks have already announced they'll be selling the X series soon.

Sony Xperia X series Performance and core features

The standard model of the lineup, Xperia X, has mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor inside. The 650 version of the Snapdragon only offers average performance, with smooth transitions from icon to icon and no screen delays or lags.

The top-spec model, the Xperia X Performance, is powered with the high-end Snapdragon 820, which helps the device to perform multiple tasks. For the least among the lineup, Xperia XA, has MediaTek MT6755 processor.

Sony is known for devices that have great camera sensor, so expect the three devices has an amazing camera technology. The Xperia X and X Performance boasts 23-megapixel camera.

In addition, the devices have an enhancement to their autofocus algorithm, adding "predictive" element to the camera. The Predictive Hybrid Autofocus feature introduces cool camera technology -- just select a moving object and wait for the camera to focus its lenses on the selected subject.

As for the rest of the features, the three smartphones are mostly the same. The new Xperia lineup comes in single SIM and dual-SIM versions with 32GB and 64GB internal storage variants. There's also a microSD slot to expand the phone's storage by up to 200GB.

The new X series is also comfortable to hold because of its smooth, rounded edges. Moreover, all of the devices sport 5-inch screen partnered with 1080p display.

Sony said the battery of Xperia X lineup could last for more than two days. The devices are equipped with 2,620mAh of battery capacity.
