The third season of Marvel's "Agents of SHIELD" is steadily moving along into its final stretch but fans are still being treated to various surprises and twists in its remaining episodes. One of those is about the true character of Lincoln Campbell, played by Luke Mitchell.
Mitchell officially joined the cast of the television series during the second season to play the recurring character Campbell, an Inhuman who can control electrical charges. He then became a regular character in season three.
Over the course of the current season, fans of the series saw how Campbell, also known as Sparkplug, went through the process of becoming an agent for SHIELD. As IGN noted, although he's living up to the position, it seems Agent Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, is not yet onboard the idea of Campbell joining the team.
"There's a wariness that Coulson has about Lincoln being [on the team]," Gregg said according to En Starz. "This guy wants to be a SHIELD agent but [Coulson] questions his motives. How much of it is just staying close to Daisy [Johnson] and how safe is he having a field agent with powers with a temper like that?"
As noted by the news site, deeper details about Campbell's background will be unveiled as the show moves forward. Specifically, the upcoming episodes "Watchdogs" and "Spacetime" are expected to focus heavily on Mitchell's character.
"We're going to dive right into that in the next few episodes," the actor said. "The next few episodes - I can't remember which numbers they are - but they're my favorite episodes by far."
Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy Johnson in the series, added that one of the upcoming episodes will show a scene that will give viewers a glimpse of Campbell's real personality. Although she didn't go into detail regarding the contents of the episode, she noted that viewers will surely appreciate that scene since it will focus on Campbell's background.
"Agents of SHIELD" has just gone through its 13th episode on March 22. The next one, "Watchdogs," will premiere on March 29. Considering that the show is nearing its season finale, fans can expect to see a few cliffhangers and probably closures regarding many of the series' characters and plot points.
