Battlefield 5 is on its way to hit gaming shelves later this year. The exact release date is not yet confirmed. However, rumors suggest that it is expected to be launched on October 26 by EA DICE. The game is also reportedly set in World War 1. Now, here's what is currently known about Battlefield 5 rumors, news and updates.

The next installment of EA DICE's successful franchise is set to be released this year. The developer hasn't announced its official release date, but Blake Jorgensen, EA Chief Financial Officer, gave a timeline for "Battlefield 5" release at Morgan State Technology. According to some tech sites, the game must arrive sometime between September and December.

Battlefield 5's release date is subject to different rumors. Recently, IGN reported that a listing for "Battlefield 5" was seen in German retailer World of Games. In that list, the game is indicated to be released on October 26 this year. It has not been confirmed by EA DICE, but it looks the same to the timeline of release set by the developer. Battlefield 5 is also described in the list as "MehrspielerTaktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg". If it is translated in English, it means "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1". The description to the upcoming installment gives a glimpse to its setting.

The game is set to be launched for PC, PS4, and XBOX One, according to a GameRant report.

Interestingly, the game's description in the list makes Battlefield 5 more intriguing. In 2014, Blake Jorgensen stated at the UBS Global Technology Conference that the upcoming installment would return to its military-style roots. Meanwhile in the World of Games' list, Battlefield is described in a World War 1 setting. Therefore, these speculations about the game seem reasonable.

For now, we must wait for EA DICE's official statement about the upcoming game. These rumors are enough to satisfy the excitement of avid gamers for Battlefield 5. The developer might also release juicy bits of information during E3, but EA will not have a booth. Instead, they will have an EA Play event from June 12 to 14. Let's wait for that for more information.
