Google is reportedly working with Huawei to develop the next-generation Nexus 7 that could be revealed in May this year. The new tablet is expected to include the latest Android operating system. Now, here's what is currently known about  Nexus 7 2016 release date, specs and rumors on the web.

Tech Times reported an all-new Nexus 7 (2016) would be released in May. This year, Google worked with Huawei rather than ASUS to make the new tablet. This is not the first time that Google and Huawei teamed up to make a device. Earlier this year, the two companies launched the Nexus 6P.

Rumors about the next-generation Nexus 7 started when Google decided to stop selling the Nexus 9.  Slash Gear reported the Nexus 9 has silently been removed from the Google Store and will, in fact, reach its support EOL later this year. Also, the tech company removed Asus-made Google Nexus 7 (2013) tablet from its storefront.

Tech experts say this move suggests that Google wants to refresh its device lineup as a preparation for Nexus 7 2016's debut.  There also speculations that the company will reveal the new tablet at Google I/O conference, which is scheduled for May 18 to 20.

As for the specs of next-generation Nexus 7, many believe it will become available with flagship specifications and the latest version of Android operating system, giving it an edge to the latest tablets available in the market today.

The BitBag says the Nexus 7 2016 will have a new Force Touch feature that is present in Apple's latest smartphones. Inside, the forthcoming Nexus tablet will run Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset and a NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor. To compliment that CPU, the tablet will also have a 4GB of RAM and 3000mAh battery.  These processing and computing features will great help the device to have optimum performance under heavy use.

Furthermore, other rumored features of this year's Nexus 7 are 4G support and Wi-Fi connectivity. It could also sport a 7-inch screen display with 2,560 x 1,800-pixel screen resolution.

It is also reported that the Nexus tablet will remain a budget-friendly device to attract more buyers.

As a conclusion, take note that Google and Huawei have not yet denied or confirmed any of the details above, so let's take with a grain of salt. It is expected more details about Nexus 7 2016 will come out in the next couple of days. Stay tuned with us for more information.
