Moto G4 (2016) May Release Date, Specs and Price: Expected To Be Unveiled This Month

May 03, 2016 01:30 PM EDT

Motorola recently sent out invitations for their big event on May 17. Rumors suggest the phone maker will unveil its long-expected Moto G4 in the event, which will happen in New Delhi, India. Now, here's what is currently known about Moto G4 release date, specs and price.

Motorola didn't specifically state what will be unveiled at the May 17 event in India, but according to a Latin Post report, the Moto G4 will be the focus of the event. The new Motorola smartphone is the 4th generation update of the low-priced Android handsets.

However, there is also a report from PC Advisor that Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo, stated that there is a new Motorola phone to be announced on June 9.

Speculations about Moto G4's launching are still on the verge of confirmation. Lenovo and Motorola have not yet announced the official release date of the handset.

Lenovo bought the Motorola Mobility to Google for $2.91 billion in a cash-and-stock deal. The acquisition of the iconic brand was completed on October 30, 2014. Despite that, the company continued to use Motorola as its brand name.

For the specs of upcoming Moto G4, it is said to contain a mid-tier Snapdragon processor. It is no surprise since the line of devices of Moto G packs a low-cost system on a chip to keep it affordable to consumers.

Furthermore, the fourth generation of Moto G series will be available with a fingerprint-based security system. According to an International Business Times report, it is expected for the Moto G4 to have this feature. The biometric technology is said to be available in most of recently launched mid-range phones in the market.

A high-capacity battery cell will also be included in it. We can expect that it may come with a 3000mAh (or greater) battery power.

The RAM capacity of the upcoming Motorola smartphone is expected to increase. Rumors say that it may house a minimum of 3GB RAM. Higher RAM capacity helps the device to have better performance under heavy use.

Moto G4's price is still not yet confirmed, but several tech sites reported that it will cost around $275 in U.S. However, it is expected that Motorola will try to stay around the $200 minimum option price point.

As always, readers are advised to take the information above with a proverbial pinch of salt.  We are still verifying the sources of the rumours.
