Samsung released the first edition of Galaxy A8 August last year. This time, the company will launch an improved version of the device which will definitely outlast the specs of Galaxy S6. Now, here's what we know so far about Samsung Galaxy A8 release date, specs and rumors on the web.

GFXBench recently published a device codenamed SM-A810, which is rumored to be the 2016 version of Galaxy A8. The listing shows Samsung will release a smaller device for this year's model, from 5.7-inches to 5.1-inches. Good thing, the device will still have a 1080p resolution.

Several tech websites predict this year's Galaxy A8 will sport Super AMOLED display to make the colors appear sharper and vibrant.

Inside, the 2016 Galaxy A8 will have the Samsung-made Exynos 7420 chipset as replacement for last year's Snapdragon chip. The Exynos chipset will be partnered with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The Exynos 7420 chip is a combination of Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A57 cores. This octa-core processor will definitely boost the performance of Galaxy A8 (2016) to prevent lags and screen freezes.

On the other hand, Samsung might not upgrade the camera features of Galaxy A8. The device will still have 16MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing snapper.

For comparison, the Galaxy A8 that was released last year has 5.7 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. Under the hood, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and a 2GB of RAM. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system. Morever, it features 32GB internal memory, which is expandable for up to 256GB via microSD slot.

Samsung has not yet announced the price and release date of this year's Galaxy A8. The current version of the device was launched in August 2015, so we shouldn't have wait for too long. Based on the specs published in GFXbench, tech experts say the device would be an affordable handset with decent features.

In the past few months, Samsung has released the 2016 version of its older devices. The South Korean tech firm previous launched this year's model of Galaxy J, Galaxy J3, Galaxy J5, Galaxy J7, Galaxy A9, Galaxy A9 Pro, and Galaxy J2. Therefore, it is not surprising that the company decided to develop the Galaxy A8 (2016), which might cost around $205.

We'll keep you posted if new information becomes available.
