Lysa TerKeurst, president of Proverbs 31 Ministries, has thanked fans for their prayers after undergoing a double mastectomy just weeks after announcing her breast cancer diagnosis.

On Monday, TerKeurst, who is also a New York Times bestselling author, shared a photo of herself on Facebook along with the caption: "Your prayers and kindness have meant so much to me. The double mastectomy surgery went really well and I'm feeling good. Thank you Dr. Menendez, Dr. Harper, and all of the amazing nurses and staff at Presbyterian Main."

TerKeurst revealed she is "already home," and is "praying that everything comes back from pathology with clear margins so no more treatment will be necessary."

"Love you all!," she concluded. "And if you or a loved one is fighting cancer, let us know in the comments below. My team and I would love to pray for you."

The popular blogger first announced the devastating diagnosis in an October Facebook post.

"I've sort of dreaded this moment of telling you guys," she said. "I really am fine, but I think because I've been through so much in the past couple of years...I've just kind of dreading telling you because I think people will think, 'What in the world?"

TerKeurst said she recently went in for a routine mammogram but the results came back unclear. She later went in for a second mammogram and then a biopsy, and doctors diagnosed her with breast cancer after finding the tumor.

Thankfully, TerKeurst said she has "joy and peace" about the surgery, as God has been by her side throughout the ordeal.

"Just in terms of my emotional perspective and my spiritual perspective God has been so good," she said, closing with Psalms 52: 8-9, which reads:

"I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love forever and ever... For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good."

"God is good at being God. I know this diagnosis is not the best of news," she said. "I would treasure your prayers for November 10. Art and my family have been amazing, they have been right there besides me, he's been at every single one of my doctor appointments."

"I'm good, I'm in a really good place, physically, emotionally, spiritually," she concluded.

As of Monday afternoon, TerKeurst's Facebook post has received over 18,000 "likes" and thousands of comments from fans offering prayers and words of encouragement.

"I'm celebrating 26 years cancer free from breast cancer, sweet friend. My daughter battled it this summer and she's now cancer free. I love this picture. You are strong. You are brave. You are a warrior," wrote Suzie Eller.

"My 35 year old daughter has been through 6 chemo treatments and is recovering from double mastectomy. Please keep her in your prayers. Praying for you as well," wrote Sharon Reilly.

"Praying for you, sweet sister in Christ. I am also a breast cancer sister. It is a challenging "project" but God will give you the strength and grace to heal and live!" wrote Cherie Cox.

TerKeurst is the best-selling author of Uninvited, The Best Yes, Unglued, Made to Crave, and 16 other books.
