CCM veteran Michael W. Smith is scheduled to perform at this year’s Republican National Convention, which begins August 30th in New York City. Smith will be co-headlining with country music legends the Gatlin Brothers on a bill that includes country artist Sara Evans and “America’s Beloved Tenor,” Daniel Rodriguez. More performers are said to be included within the next few days. Smith’s connection with the Republican Party extends back to George H. W. Bush, who Smith first performed for at a White House Christmas Special and whose family Smith is close friends with.
