A Request from the Anglican Centre in Rome

From 24 November to 2 December 2003, the Anglican Centre in Rome is holding a consultation for people who are interested and involved in clergy many different titles in the Anglican Dioceses around the world. in-service training and support. The usual name for that in the UK is

The typical CME officer in a diocese is an experienced priest appointed by and often directly reporting to the Bishop. He or she helps people to plan individual pieces of learning or sabbatical leave, and also puts on courses that try to deal with matters that are of interest to clergy.

We are very keen that this should be a consultation among informed people. The Congregation for Priests in the Vatican has expressed interest and I am in touch with the diocese of Milan where there is an innovative and successful programme in place.

It would be a huge help to me to learn the names of the appropriate people to approach in your province/diocese. If there is a standard list it can be faxed to me at the number below. If you have any questions, do contact me.

Yours in Christ,
Richard Garrard
