Thursday brought new developments to the shocking murder of eight-year-old Leiby Kletzky. New details suggest that the victim might have put up a fight against his attacker moments before his tragic death.

“Based on marks on the defendant it appears that there was some sort of struggle," said NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

CBS 2 reports that police still have no evidence as to whether or not Kletzky was molested before he was killed.

On Thursday afternoon, 35-year-old Levi Aron was arraigned and charged with second-degree murder and kidnapping in connection to the crime.

The Daily News reports that the alleged murderer recounts the night in a confession he wrote to the police when he was arraigned.

In the confession, Aron reportedly admits to bringing the boy back to his apartment and feeling a sense of uncertainty after seeing missing posters of the boy around the community. Allegedly he then made Kletzky a tuna sandwich then proceeded to smother him right after.

"He fought back a little…Afterwards, I panicked because I didn't know what to do with the body,” Aron writes in the confession.

A two-day search for Kletzky ended Wednesday when cops rushed into the apartment of Aron and discovered Kletzky’s dismembered body in the freezer. The boy’s other remains were later found in a suitcase tossed in a dumpster a few miles away.

The brutality of the murder has shocked even the most battle-hardened police veterans.

"It defies all logic and I think that is what makes it so terribly disturbing…To be killed in this manner is just heartbreaking. It is baffling," says Commissioner Kelley.

The body of the small boy was laid to rest on Wednesday evening in front of over 8,000 mourners who came to show the boy their last respects.
