Since the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre took place, a month has passed and the nation’s attention seemed to have drifted to other matters of importance; however, Christian leaders and artists are hosting a free concert Tuesday evening for the survivors in Newtown, Conn.
“The initial response to the event was overwhelming, with over 10,000 tickets going in just 30 minutes, and since then 2000 more seats have been opened,” Kevin Braun of Generation Exodus, the company organizing the event, told Charisma News.
Authors and speakers Louie Giglio, Max Lucado and Mary Beth Chapman will share during “a night of prayer and music” to honor the victims and families.
Christian artists TobyMac, Chris Tomlin, Mandisa, Laura Story, Casting Crowns, Steven Curtis Chapman and Building 429 will performed to pay tribute to the victims.
According to CBN News, Chapman said he understands a little of what the people of Newtown are going through. His daughter Maria was killed in an accident in 2008. He said that the only thing worse than the pain he and his family went through would have been to go through it without God. He said that's the comfort he hopes to share at Tuesday night's concert.
A Night of Hope & Healing is set for Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 6-10 p.m. at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. For those unable to get tickets for the concert, it will be available Tuesday night via LiveStream
