Pastor David Platt and Christian author Francis Chan plan to host a Multiply gathering tonight in Austin, Texas, challenging believers to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission.

In Matthew 28:18b-20, Jesus said "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (English Standard Version).

In following Christ's command to make disciples, Francis Chan and David Platt have teamed up to help equip believers for discipleship and evangelism. Their Multiply Movement "exists to awaken churches and all followers of Christ to the priority of disciple-making in the church's mission."

Platt, the pastor of The Church at Brook Hills in Alabama, has a heart for discipleship and missions. He passionately proclaims that Jesus deserves praise from all people, as He has rightful authority over all things. "We don't have life to waste it on cozy, casual Christianity in the confines of comfortable churches," Platt says - "We have life to spend it on the front lines of the world proclaiming the Gospel to people everywhere [that] Jesus is Lord."

Platt invites believers worldwide to join the gathering online in the hopes that many will be encouraged to spend their lives making disciples. "This is the command that should be driving us - that we're compelled to do - to share the Gospel," he says. Tonight's meeting will consist of prayer, studying the Word together, and encouraging one another in the Great Commission.

"The Great Commission applies to every Christian, and the Lord Jesus has promised to be with us in this glorious task," the Multiply website reads. The gathering will begin at 6pm CST, and registration to stream the event live is available here.
