Game Of Thrones Season 4 Release Date, Cast List, Trailer (HBO Official Premiere Date)

The HBO drama series "Game of Thrones" Season 4 will premiere Sunday, April 6 at 9p.m. The first trailer for the new season will debut this Sunday, January 12 right before the premiere of the new Matthew McConaughey/Woody Harrelson drama "True Detective."

According to Entertainment Weekly, the trailer is described as the "first extended look at the new season and features new characters and episodic footage"

The drama series is based on "A Song of Ice and Fire," a series of novels by George R.R. Martin. Season four is expected to follow along the second half of "A Storm of Swords."

HBO made the announcement at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 9. After the deaths of several major characters in last season of "Game of Thrones," the cast for Season 4 will include Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Natalie Dormer, Maisie Williams, and Sophie Turner.

The same night (April 6) will see the launches of Season 3 of "Veep" at 10 p.m. and HBO's new Mike Judge comedy "Silicon Valley" at 10:30.
