The Walking Dead Season 5 Spoilers and Release Date: Glenn Rhee May Still Be Alive

Jun 25, 2014 01:30 AM EDT

AMC's 'The Walking Dead' (TWD) character Glenn Rhee may not have been killed off in Season Five, as speculated weeks earlier.

Glenn was rumored to have been the victim of a death scene that was filmed on May 27 in Georgia.

Last Friday, The Spoiling Dead Fans debunked this rumor by posting photos from the production of The Walking Dead. Played by Korean American actor Steven Yeun, Glenn was on set with characters Maggie, Eugene, and Rosalita in Griffin, GA.

In the original comic books that inspired the TV series, Glenn is bludgeoned to death by primary antagonist Negan. Still, a number of deaths in the comic storyline do not match up with those in the televised show. More information will be needed to confirm whether Glenn of the AMC original actually dies in the next season.

Happily though, a Season Five trailer is coming soon. When it comes out, the trailer will reveal tidbits of plot spoilers, and may confirm a few rumors. It is generally believed that the Season Five trailer will be featured at the upcoming Comic Con that is scheduled for July 24-27 in San Diego. Even so, there is still the possibility the trailer can come at any time before Comic Con.

It has not been confirmed exactly when the new season of The Walking Dead will debut, but it is certain to be in October of this year. After all, Walking Dead Season 4 premiered on October 13, 2013. So, it is likely that TWD Season 5 will have its premiere date at around the same time frame.

Fans may be pleased to know that AMC will be airing a Walking Dead marathon all-day on the July 4 long weekend. This will be an opportunity for viewers to binge-watch every episode of TWD to date.
