In the days leading to The Originals Season 2 release date, there have been a number of new developments that offer clues on what to expect in the next season.

Here is a lineup of the top three spoilers for the second season of the Vampire Diaries spin-off.

Klaus and Marcel Team Up Again

Recently, The CW unveiled a new trailer for the second season. Much of the details in the video were already covered in the previous San Diego Comic-Con teaser. Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) is still coming to terms with her new life as a hybrid, while Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) confronts his murderous father Mikael. Still, the show's lead character will not be alone in his upcoming battles.

Cami (Leah Pipes) says in both trailers that Klaus will need to enlist the aid of his rival and erstwhile protégé Marcel. "You have a weapon across the river waiting to be fired," she tells Klaus' brother Elijah (Daniel Gillies).

During the first season, Klaus and Marcel were not on particularly friendly terms. Even so, the two characters briefly join forces around the end of Season 1. The trailers imply that they will continue that alliance out of necessity.

New Threats Emerge

Next season, the main enemy is the reemerging Guerrera family - an organized crime syndicate of werewolves that was nearly wiped out in a previous war with Marcel. They have gained possession of moonlight rings, which render Klaus powerless.

With this weapon, Guerrera pack leader Francesca Correa (Peta Sergeant) plots again Klaus in a bid to rule New Orleans. "Klaus has not set foot outside his house in months," she says in exasperation.

Meanwhile, the witches are being led by the Esther, mother of the Mikaelson brothers. This faction will remain an ever present threat alongside the werewolves.

The Original Season 2 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 6 at 8/7c on The CW network.
