Super Smash Bros 4 DLC Character for Wii, 3DS: Mewtwo on Sale, Patch Update

Super Smash Bros 4 character Mewtwo is now on sale for Ninteno Wii U and 3DS, while the new Ryu DLC is making the rounds in the rumor mill. This means fans are potentially getting one addition to the SSB4 characters lineup. Meanwhile, the initial-release version of Mewtwo has gotten a patch fix that can be downloaded now.

Mewtwo Mass Release on Monday, April 28

On April 28, Monday, players can purchase Mewtwo for $4 on Nintendo 3DS, and $5 on Nintendo Wii U. Those lucky to have participated in the early release of Mewtwo will get to keep their copy of this popular Pokémon character.

The iconic Mewtoo character had an initial release on April 15 to qualifying registrants. Interested parties had to register before March 31. Those who qualified needed to own both the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS.

Glitch Addressed in Character Patch 1.0.7

Players who downloaded Mewtwo on April 15 found themselves being randomly barred from online matches while playing as Mewtwo. Complications tended to occur during 10-person Melees.

The culprit was apparently data corruption to SSB4's save data, which resulted in gamers being unable to play online as Mewtwo. Often times, players got the message "You have been disconnected because of irregular save data." Other Mewtwo-related woes included bugs with the character's custom moves.

Oddly, the fiasco coincided with a surprising complaint from Super Smash director, Masahiro Sakurai.

"These days, the 'DLC scam' has become quite the epidemic, charging customers extra money to complete what was essentially an unfinished product," Sakurai wrote, according to a translation that was republished on GameSpot.

"I completely understand how aggravated players must feel. After all, a game should be 100 percent done at the time of release, and I would be livid if it were split up and sold in pieces."

Happily, it seems the problems have been successfully addressed with the recent Character Patch 1.0.7 update. Wii U and 3DS owners will be please to note that the patch will not take up much-needed memory space. The Wii U update is 21 MB, while the 3D update occupies 1,715 download blocks.

Ryu Rumored to Be Coming to Super Smash Brothers 4

Once again, Reddit is the source for the latest SSB4 DLC rumor. This time gossip revolves around StreetFighter character Ryu, as well as Fire Emblem's Roy.

A redditor decrypted the code in SSB4's latest update patch. The anonymous individual had apparently discovered victory audio tracks for two new DLC characters, which he believed to be Ryu and Roy. Naturally, Super Smash fans will need to wait for verification from Nintendo itself.

According to Compositry, Nintendo has been polling the Super Smash community for the next SSB4 character. Notable nominations include U.S. President Barack Obama and Dragon Ball Z's Goku.
