Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Release Date, Cast, and Spoilers: Megan Fox Joined by Laura Linney, and More

When the new version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appeared last summer, it was not met with good reviews by critics and fans of franchise that dates back to the early eighties.  Apparently, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TNMT) made enough money so that a sequel could be made, and since it is filming in New York City, it has been relatively easy to capture behind-the-scenes footage.  This is what can be gleaned from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 spoilers along with its release date, as well as the cast that includes the return of Megan Fox and an appearance by Laura Linney and much more.

Fans of TNMT will be pleased to see that Casey Jones will be appearing for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.  For those unfamiliar with the fan-favorite character, Casey Jones was a vigilante who wore a hockey mask and attempted to fight crime on his own.  Jones will be played by Stephen Amell, the start of Arrow on CW.

It would appear that Megan Fox will again be playing April O'Neil, the Ninja Turtles' primary human friend.  Fox was not well-received by fans of the franchise, and she received an infamous Razzie award for her portrayal of the iconic TNMT character.  It doesn't look like there was any attempt to replace the actress.

According to Design and Trend, at least one scene has been revealed as O'Neil is being chased by someone who looks like a henchmen from the Foot Clan, only to be stopped by Casey Jones.  These henchmen could be Bebop and Rocksteady, two famous half-human, half-animal henchmen from the TNMT animated series that will be appearing in live-action form in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.   After Jones saves April, he then meets the four Ninja Turtles, who don't quite fully accept him at first.

In addition to Fox and the Turtles reprising their roles, other actors from the 2014 film will return.  Will Arnett will reprise his role as Vernon Fenwick, O'Neil's goofy assistant.  William Fichtner will reprise his role as Eric Sacks, the villain who worked with the Turtles' arch-nemesis, the Shredder.  The Shredder is again the main villain.

New characters have been added that Turtles' fans might recognize.  One of them is Baxter Stockman, a villainous scientist who will be portrayed by the one and only Tyler Perry.  Actress Alessandra Ambrosio will be portraying Vernon's girlfriend.

In visiting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 imdb.com page, Laura Linney can be found, but her character name does not appear.  There are some photos of footage on Daily Mail that show the actress wearing a badge, so she is probably playing some police officer of some kind.

The imdb page also has no character name for Judith Hoag, the actress who played April O'Neil in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action films.  Flickering Myth suggests that Hoag's appearance in this film might be part homage, part cameo.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will appear in theaters on June 3, 2016.  The film is directed by David Green, best known for another family-friendly science fiction film Earth to Echo.  It is not known if Green or any of the cast and crew is signed up for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3, but the original director of the live-action TNMT franchise reboot, Jonathan Liebesman, could be on board to direct another children's toy franchise with Transformers 5
