Xbox Live Games With Gold Free Games: May's Xbox Live Deals with Gold, Spotlight Sales Till May 18

May 15, 2015 07:05 PM EDT

Every month, Xbox subscribers look forward to seeing what new Games with Gold games will be for free.  So far, there is a lot speculation as to what Xbox Live Games with Gold will be free games for June 2015.

I'll go ahead and answer the question that everyone is looking for.  The answer is sadly no answer, as the free Games with Gold are not usually announced until the month turns, and then there are usually only rumors.

What makes it very interesting is that last month there was a surprise in May as there was free NBA 2K15 available for the last weekend of April.  It would be exciting if there was some new sporting game coming at the end of May 2015 like NBA 2K15 or something.  Please do not quote me on that, as it is a suggestion, but the Games with Gold program are more than welcome to implement that.  I would highly recommend that all Xbox Games with Gold subscribers keep their ears peeled during the last weekend in May, as there could be another surprise.  Again, just do that, don't quote me if you expect another great and contemporary sports game.

As for the month of May, here is what can be expected.  For Xbox One users, they will be treated to CastleStorm: Definitive Edition for free.  If you are not familiar with CastleStorm, the Xbox Store describes it as "a super genre mashup of 2D physics destruction mashed with tower defense brawler...It's Knights vs. Vikings...where medieval warfare meets 2D physics-based destruction!"  The Definitive Edition includes the original campaign and 2 additional expansions: from Outcast to Savior and The Warrior Queen.  It also includes 20 new single player battles, 4 new extreme survival battles, 10 new magic spells, and more.

Another game being offered for additional month for the Xbox One is Pool Nation FX, a game of billiards with photo-realistic graphics and real-world physics.

As far as the Xbox 360 is concerned, Xbox Live Gold members can have access Mafia II as of last Friday, May 1st.  If you aren't familiar with Mafia II, it is an action-adventure game made by 2K Games that was released in 2010, a sequel to Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven.  The story is from a third-person perspective, focusing in a fictional city of Empire Bay as the main character gets caught up in the seedy world of organized crime.

Also available for the Xbox 360 is F1 2013, a car racing game that features all eleven teams and twenty-two drivers competing in the 2013 season, not to mention the nineteen circuits and Grands Prix.  There is even a "Classic Edition" of the game with drivers, cars, and circuits from the 1980s and the 1990s.

In addition, Microsoft has revealed the full list of Xbox Live deals with Gold or discounted games and add-ons this week as listed below. All deals are good through May 18, while an Xbox Live Gold subscription is required in all cases except Destiny for Xbox One.

Xbox Live Gold program is a paid subscription service for the Xbox community, but Xbox users can sign up for free. With Gold comes features like online gaming, private chat, and much more. Microsoft really sweetened this deal back in E3 2013 when they announced their Games with Gold program, which allows Xbox 360 subscribers to receive a complimentary game twice a month, while Xbox One subscribers receive one game per month.
