'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Air Date and Spoilers [Comic Con Trailer]

The Walking Dead had quite a Season 5, and it set the stage for a very dramatic Season 6. There will be a lot pulled from the comic book source material to really make it shine including The Wolves, The Alexandra Safe Zone, and possibly the death of another major character. This is what is currently known about The Walking Dead Season 6 Release Date and some Spoilers.

It's very clear that introducing The Wolves and killing off Reg Monroe and Pete and the end of Season 5 is going to set the stage for Season 6. According to Den of Geek, an interview with the showrunner Scott Gimple has revealed that The Wolves will not be the most immediate threat in the first half of Season 6, but there will be multiple threats. Gimple describes the first three episodes as "intense" with the cast and crew "shot out of a cannon directly into another cannon that we shot them out of again". The end result are "very big and very difficult, and we're pushing people".

Gimple also had a lot to say about how Season 6 will delve into the backstory that Robert Kirkman didn't develop in the writer's comic book source material. He says that "the first half of the season that serves almost as a prequel to some direct comic stuff in the second half of the season".

A recent report from The International Business Times has shown that Gimple has been very hush-hush when it comes to the matter of the Wolves. He has even stated this: "I don't know if I'd be as completely direct as to have the first thing we do when we pick up Season 6, is to jump into anything with the Wolves. I wouldn't probably do that. I don't think we would do that."

Since The Walking Dead is based on comic book source material, the biggest things that happen on the show are really already spoiled by those that read the comic book. The TV series doesn't follow the comic book exactly, but it does follow certain plot elements. In fact, the character of Daryl Dixon on the show, who is a fan favorite, is not from the comic book.

Robert Kirkman, creator of the original graphic novel and one of the show's executive producers, has killed off the character Glenn in the comic. Glenn is on the TV show, and in the comic he was killed by a terrifying tyrant named Negan, who has yet to appear on the show. Kirkman has teased that "if it were time for Glenn to go, then it's probably going to be awesome".

So will Glenn be passing on this season? Many people have predicted Daryl's death, which would certain take the show in a greater tragic direction than the death of Emily in Season 5.

One thing that could be happening on The Walking Dead is the "Alexandria Safe Zone" plot. In the comics, the band of survivors found a town surrounded by walls where life was sheltered from the zombies outside. It quickly went wrong as a massive horde ran through the town. Posters on iDigitalTimes, like the one that you see in the image could be alluding to this incident in Season 6. I think we can bank on that event happening, so expect a heavy forecast of walkers on next Season's The Walking Dead.

We have an official Release Date for The Walking Dead Season 6, and we know that will appear on Sunday, October 11, 2015, which is the earliest that the show has appeared. As for the spinoff/companion series, Fear the Walking Dead, that will premiere in August.
