Jul 28, 2015 09:52 PM EDT

August's free games list for Xbox Live Games for Gold is available as of this Tuesday, July 28. Bear in mind, Games for Gold requires a paid subscription. This month, members will get access to AAA-titles Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and two titles from the Metro series.

As part of Microsoft's new plan for the Gold service, subscribers will get two free games each for Xbox One and Xbox 360. In short, Gold members will get four free games each month from now on. Without further ado, here are the free games for August.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes ($19.99 ERP) - Xbox One

Available: August 1-31

Players take on the role of Big Boss, who is tasked with infiltrating a U.S. military black site in Cuba in 1975. The character will rescue key allies and uncover nefarious government conspiracies. Missions are completed using a combination of stealth and high-tech gadgetry.

Unlike previous Metal Gear titles, Ground Zeroes offers players a nonlinear, open-world style of gameplay. Subscribers will get the whole month of August to enjoy this videogame title.

How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition ($19.99 ERP) - Xbox One

Available: August 16 - September 15

In the last half of August, subscribers get to try out Survive: Storm Warning. The game takes players to an island overrun with the undead. Playing either in solo or coop mode, gamers will need to use their wits in order to survive. Beside zombies, the environment is just as life-threatening. Unlike other zombie game titles, players will not be bothered with weapon customization. Instead, gameplay is focused with the pure joy of bashing zombies.

Metro 2033 ($19.99 ERP) - Xbox 360

Available: August 1-15

Set in post-nuclear apocalypse Moscow, players take on the role of young survivor Artyom. In this alternate-reality universe, the city's residents lead a hellish existence inside Moscow's subway system. Due to radiation, new mutated animals now populate the tunnels. The situation above ground is just as worse, with acid rain and even more dangerous creatures.

Humans are just as dangerous. Armed gangs of bandits, neo-Nazis, and Communists continually prey on the innocent. Amidst the chaos, there are mysterious creatures with awesome powers lurking about.

Though the story is linear, players will still get time to explore and gather items. Bullets are the main currency, and can be used to buy things from merchants. However, the same bullets are used to fight off enemies. This encourages gamers to conserve ammo whenever possible.

Metro: Last Light ($19.99 ERP) - Xbox 360

Available: August 16-31

After playing Metro 2033, Gold subscribers will get to play the next installment in the Metro series. Players will reprise the role of Artyom, who is now a fully fledge Ranger - protector of innocents and sworn enemy of all that is evil.

Players will notice that the graphics have been improved significantly in Metro: Last Light. The game continues from the storyline of Metro 2033. Without giving out too much spoilers, Artyom will once again encounter the mysterious black creature in Metro: Last Light. Though the style of gameplay has not changed, the story is more complex and involves a female love interest for Artyom.
