Sony's Xperia Z5 may be the smartphone of choice for superspy 007, if rumors are to be believed. The same gossip suggests that device may debut alongside the Z5 compact at IFA 2015. Release date details for either smartphones remain unannounced. Meanwhile, Sony has just updated the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 to Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Xperia Z5 Spotted in Alleged Promotion Leak

In July, Chinese site Digi-Wo leaked two alleged promotional images for the upcoming Bond film Spectre. They were later reposted on Android Authority.

The advertisements contained the slogan "Made for Bond," with the number "5" appearing next to the word Xperia. Though the model lettering was blocked off, many consumers believed the poster was promoting the rumored Xperia Z5.

Naturally, the validity of the images cannot be proven at this time. Observers should be cautious considering that the images come from an unknown source.

Also, official spec details are not surprisingly absent. Most available information comes from unofficial channels. Techradar believes that Xperia Z5 will have a 5.5-inch 1080p display. The Xperia Blog predicted that Xperia Z5 will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact Reportedly Shown Side-by-Side

On August 5, ViziLeaks tweeted an image of two alleged Xperia devices. The posting read, "Sony Z(TBC) and Compact #Z5." The photo showed both mysterious devices stack on top of each other - allowing viewers to see the power button and fingerprint sensor.

The assumption in the rumor mill is that the devices show is the Xperia Z5 and and Z5 Compact. Sony has not made any comment regarding this recent development. Both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are rumored to be appearing at the upcoming IFA 2015 conference.

Sony Rolls Out Android 5.1 to Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2

Currently, the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is available for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2. Though the update rolled out OTA late last month, the new Android firmware will take awhile to reach consumers who are using devices thru a nationwide carrier.

For now, none of the major U.S. mobile service providers have announced release date for the Android 5.1 Lollipop on the Xperia Z3 and Z2.
