The online gameplay for the PlayStation 4 is about to become more expensive starting September 1, at least in the U.K. with prices for its one and three month PlayStation Plus increasing by as much as 25%.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's said in a statement, "We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content. From 1st September 2015 we will be increasing the price of monthly and three month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions. We will continue to invest in PS Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features."
Sony currently charges PlayStation Plus subscribers in the U.K. $8.56 (£5.49) for a one-month subscription, $18.68 (£11.99) for a three-month subscription and $62.29 (£39.99) for a one year subscription. Sony did not provide exact details about the new prices.
According to a report by the Master Herald, the price increase will only be implemented in Europe. Subscribers in the North America and Asia will not be affected by the price hike, it added.
PlayStation Plus Free Games for August
Last week, Sony has unveiled free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers for PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation 3 (PS3), and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita). The free games are released every free Tuesday of the month, said Christian Post.
This month's free games for PS4 users are the four-player co-op title Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. The game allows a player (Lara Croft) to partner with three other players in tackling the challenges in her adventure, like clearing dungeon rooms, explore dangerous environments and solve tough puzzles.
The second free game is the Limbo, a haunting game with ghastly storyline. The game involves platfoming, solving puzzles and surviving traps.
Users of PS3 and PS Vita can enjoy Sound Shapes and CastleStorm Complete Edition. Other free games included for August are "Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones" (PS4, PS3, PS Vita) and "God of War: Ascension" (PS3), the report added.
Subscribers of PlayStation Plus, automatically receive free games for their Sony consoles each month.
