iPod Touch 6th Generation Review, Price, and Specs; New iPod Touch Could be Its Last

There is one good reason why the Apple iPod touch 6th generation is a good buy. It could be the last iPod Apple will roll out. For one, the iPod is facing stiff competition even from its own camp with an Apple iPad available for just $90 more.

According to News.com, the latest iPod Touch is the cheapest iOS device available in the market with prices depending on the internal storage capacity. The basic 16GB version costs $199, while the 32GB version sells for $249. The retail value for the 64GB version is $299, and the largest 128GB version is selling for $399.

However, the newest iPod Touch is very lightweight at 88 grams. It is expected to be popular, especially those with smaller hands who prefer a slimmer device for playing games and music. The device will easily fit into your hand and slip into your pocket while connecting to a wireless headphones.

The 6th generation iPod is also sporting a faster processor that its predecessors, with its internal hardware said to be similar with the iPhone 6 but at a lesser cost. The new iPod is powered by an A8 processor rated at 1.12 GHz and M8 motion coprocessor that are also found on Apple's flagship smartphones and the latest iPhones.

The camera is also significantly improved, with an eight-megapixel resolution and an advanced iSight and FaceTime HD Camera that gives the iPod the the ability to capture slow-motion video. However, the iPod's camera is not as advanced as the iPhone 6 camera.

But compared with the iPod Touch 5th Generation, the iPod 6 has plenty of improvement. Its predecessor only ran on A5 processor. With the latest chip set inside the iPod Touch 6, it is guaranteed to have a longer life-span or future-proofed, and will have up-to-date specs for the next few years.

This iPod is also capable of GPS and fingerprint sensor, a feature found only on flagship smartphones. Other advanced features of this new iPod, includes Bluetooth connectivity that allows users to connect with wireless speakers and headphones. The device also has a built-in speaker for personal audio.

On the downside though, the iPod 6th generation still has the same 4-inch screen that is touted as too small by users.

The iPod Touch 6 comes in six color options. These include Space Gray, Gold, Silver, Blue, Pink and Red. According to MacRumors, the blue and pink colors are deeper and brighter than those found on previous iPod Touch models.

Some users may desire having the iPod Touch 6th generation for its ability to provide music and video entertainment without the need to pay expensive cellphone bills. With apps, it is possible to access phone call functions to the iPod Touch. As a bonus, many such apps offer free unlimited in-app calls and texting. This feature is perfect for cash-strapped college students.
