The Chicago Bulls had a devastating run last NBA season especially after the team's star player, Derrick Rose, incurred an injury which caused the squad to be practically slaughtered by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the hardwood. While the Chicago Bulls saw the rise of Jimmy Butler during the trying period last NBA season, the absence of Derrick Rose in the lineup posed substantial damage to the team. Moreover, the injuries incurred by NBA vets Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson certainly did not help the already ailing team. As another NBA season is set to start, however, Derrick Rose appears to be raring to prove his worth as the main man of the Chicago Bulls - a promise that might see the fans and followers of the NBA team cheer on spectacular performances by the NBA All-Star.

"I know I'm great," said Derrick Rose, referring to the criticisms hurled against him this past NBA season, according to Chicago Tribune. The Chicago Bulls star added, "There's a lot of people that don't know I'm great, but it's cool. I know I can hoop."

This confidence is echoed by the new coach of the Chicago Bulls, Fred Hoiberg, who replaced Tim Thibodeau.

The head coach shared, "Rewatching the Milwaukee and Cleveland (playoff) series, he [Derrick Rose] finished the year playing at a very high level." The Chicago Bulls' new coach went on to say, "And (he took) that momentum into his offseason program. Derrick's in terrific shape. He's done really good things with his body, and having that whole summer where he hasn't been rehabbing and being able to add to his game is very important. I anticipate Derrick getting off to a great start."

Inasmuch as Derrick Rose appears to be gearing up for a more explosive season, it looks like the Chicago Bulls star is also preparing for the expiration of his contract. Fans and followers of the widely known NBA star would be aware that the contract of Derrick Rose with the Chicago Bulls will expire by the year 2017. With this in mind, Derrick Rose will be included in the list of free agency players by then and it seems that the Chicago Bulls star has one goal he is adamant to achieve: earn more cash.

"I've been moved on," said Derrick Rose via CBS Sports. Asked about his plans in terms of potentially retiring with the Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose was quick to say that he wants to stay with the NBA team. However, he also noted that the financial capacity of any NBA team to satisfy his demand would be taken into serious consideration.

Derrick Rose shared, "But when you talk about that much money, the only thing you can do is prepare for it. I'm trying to prepare, not only myself, but my family. And I'm doing this all for my son. Like I said, I'm thinking about his future. Even though we're all right, we're comfortable, when you talk about that x-amount of dollars, I think it raises everyone's eyebrows, so there's nothing wrong with being over-prepared.'' It remains to be seen if the year 2017 will see Derrick Rose saying goodbye to Jimmy Butler, Pau Gasol and the rest of the Chicago Bulls team. At this point, the basketball community is only keen on seeing whether or not he can deliver on his promise to have a better NBA season.
