Rumors that Apple is revealing the iPad Air 3 continue to circulate on the web. As of now, the release date still remains a mystery. Apple fans expected to see the fabled tablet last month. Surprisingly, the Cupertino-based firm did not unveil the iPad Air 3. For now, the device exists solely in the imagination of fans.

iPad Air 3, Chinese Rumors Allege 2016 Release Date

Not many details have been revealed regarding the iPad Air 3. However, on Tuesday, ITPro reported that the device will retain the 9.7-inch screen. The resolution may be bumped up to 2334 x 3112 resolution at around 401 ppi. Also, the publication reported that the iPad Air 3 may have IPx7 waterproofing and a thinner chassis. This information comes straight from Chinese tech site MyDrivers.

There is no information regarding a potential release date for the iPad Air 3. So far, another Chinese publication Economy Daily News is offering hints that the device will not go into production until 2016.

Rumored Specs for iPad Air 3

According to Cult of Mac, the iPad Air 3 is powered with either an A9 or A9X processor. Regarding memory, there will between 2-4 GB RAM. Internal storage options include 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. For picture taking, the device may come with an 8-megapixel iSight camera. Selfie photos can be taken with a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera.

The same publication also pointed out rumors alleging the device will be thinner than its iPad Air 2 predecessor. Naturally, all of this information is unconfirmed. Hence, only Apple will have the final say regarding what is true.

Meanwhile, the newly-released iPad Mini 4 is available for purchase on Apple's website after months of rumors. It is regarded by fans and critics as being what the iPad Mini 3 should have been. The device sells at a starting price of $399, and a maximum of $729.
