Recently, at New York Comic-Con 2015, fans got to see a preview of Marvel's newest Defenders series.  If you aren't familiar with the Defenders series, it is a plan from Marvel to bring darker superheroes on Netflix shows, and then team them all together in a mini-series known as The Defenders.  One of these Defenders has already had a hit Season 1 on Netflix with Daredevil, and next up is Jessica Jones.  This is what is known about Daredevil Season 2 and Jessica Jones Release Date along with other Defenders News.

A teaser trailer for Season 2 of Daredevil leaked online, and what is seen of it on Vox doesn't really have a lot of Season 2 footage on it.  Most of the beginning is Season 1 footage with Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), Foggy (Elden Henson), and Karen (Deborah Ann Woll).  It then has a few seconds worth of footage, showing off a few new characters.

One of them is Elektra, played by Elodie Yung.  She is putting on a veil in the trailer, and she is a fan-favorite character pulled directly from the comic book source material.  Some might remember this character from the 2003 Daredevil movie as well as a solo Elektra with Jennifer Garner playing this role.  Elektra was a love interest for Matt Murdock (Daredevil's real name) and was killed by Bulls-eye, a villain who may or may not appear in Season 2.

The other is a character who is only seen from the back, but it is believed to be Jon Bernthal playing Frank Castle.  Castle is known as the Punisher, and this Marvel antihero has been the subject of three different movies and will take on Daredevil in his Season 2.  It is not known whether or not The Punisher will be donning his traditional skull on his front, but his methods of killing criminals are clearing going to be causing problems for Daredevil.

As for Jessica Jones, iO9 was given a peek at the first episode and has them wanting more.  Krysten Ritter stars as the titular character, and the series puts a more film noir angle to the Marvel universe.  It sets up David Tennant (formerly of Doctor Who) as the villain Kilgrave, also known as the Purple Man.  So far, it looks like Jessica Jones is going to be as big, if not a bigger hit, than Season 1 of Daredevil

Also set up on the pilot episode of Jessica Jones is Luke Cage (Mike Colter), who has a relationship with Jessica.  Luke Cage is another Marvel character in this Defenders universe, and he will have his own show on Netflix sometime in 2016.  The last main Defenders character to have their own show will be Iron Fist, a partner of Luke Cage, and his show is set to debut in 2016.

Jessica Jones is being released to Netflix on November 20, 2015.  Daredevil Season 2 will be coming in early 2016.  Should viewers expect crossover episodes like CW's The Flash and Arrow?  Considering that an entire season comes on Netlix at once, that might not help the story along.  However, The Defenders will have these characters all in one room together, so if Marvel and Netflix are smart, they will start to sow the seeds of a terrific storyline like was done in the Avengers Cinematic Universe.
