NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Re-Sign Tim Tebow; Sam Bradford, DeMarco Murray Welcome Back QB Hopeful

The Philadelphia Eagles have released Tim Tebow in the final stages of the NFL preseason. This move had been widely criticized especially with the way head coach Chip Kelly discussed the potential of the said NFL hopeful. However, the Philadelphia Eagles eventually decided against officially signing Tebow. Kelly shared then that Tebow still needed more time in the field for him to qualify truly as an NFL quarterback.

However, the tables might have just turned this NFL regular season. In an unexpected twist of fate, the Philadelphia Eagles now are in dire need of a quarterback. According to reports, Philadelphia Eagles star Sam Bradford is currently out due to an injury he incurred in the NFL team's match against the Miami Dolphins.

In a report by ESPN, Bradford's MRI revealed that the athlete suffered a separated shoulder. This injury incurred during the third quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the Miami Dolphins. During the said period, linebacker Chris McCain sacked the injured quarterback. The hit caused Bradford to land on his non-throwing shoulder. Apart from the separated shoulder, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was also diagnosed to have a concussion. The Miami Dolphins won the said match 20-19.

With Bradford out, the Philadelphia Eagles are now relying heavily on backup Mark Sanchez. As the NFL season heats up, a substitute for Sanchez is necessary especially in light of Bradford's current condition. It could be recalled that Tebow had been quite a strong contender during the offseason for the third quarterback post. Hence, sports analysts note that it would be prudent for the Philadelphia Eagles to reconsider Tebow for the said position.

While this seems like a good idea to some, other commentators believe otherwise. Champ Bailey, an ex-cornerback in the NFL, shared in an interview with Colin Cowherd of The Herd that scouts were asked to take it easy on Tebow for the aspiring football star to be able to make plays.

"Tebow," he said via CBS Sports. Bailey added, "Prime example. He just didn't look good in practice. He was not great in practice. When you tell the scout team to back off a guy, let him make some plays, let him make some throws...that's not a good practice player. Most players in practice want to be challenged like it's a game."

Bailey also shared that Tebow has to be allowed to "get in a rhythm." The former NFL star shared, "He was not a great passer. The run game, that's where he excelled. Obviously, we know in this league you can't succeed very long as a running quarterback. You have to know how to pass. We tried to enable that and help him along, but when it was game time, you didn't know what to expect because he didn't practice well all week."

As of this writing, there remains no official word on the potential signing of Tebow with the Philadelphia Eagles. Aside from the Bradford football team, speculations are rife on the possible inclusion of the NFL hopeful to the Pittsburgh Steelers or Denver Broncos roster.
