Fans and followers of the Indianapolis Colts got their hearts broken when Andrew Luck was declared out earlier this NFL season. In what could be described as a half-hearted attempt to salvage the football squad, the team went for backup quarterback Matt Hasselback. Before the sub taking on the field, supporters of the Indianapolis Colts expressed their frustration over a 40-year-old NFL star leading the squad.

However, the games following Luck's injury and Hasselback's takeover proved to be anything but disappointing. In an unexpected turn of events, the backup quarterback now holds a 4-0 record since he was assigned as one of the starting players for the Indianapolis Colts. Hasselback has now successfully led his NFL team to victory against the Denver Broncos, Atlant Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Go with the Satchel Paige old quote, 'How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were?' That's kind of what he lives by," shared Chuck Pagano of Hasselback, according to ESPN. The Indianapolis head coach added, "It's awesome. He does a great job of preparing. He takes care of himself, obviously. He understands football, he understands what we're doing, he works extremely hard Monday through Sunday preparing himself, watching himself, correcting himself, getting the plan down and obviously at his age being 4-0 as a backup quarterback, it's great for us. We're very, very fortunate and I just hope he keeps it going."

For his part, Luck also recognized the talent Hasselback brought to the NFL team since the latter took over. The injured quarterback shared, "He's done a heck of a job and he's a heck of a quarterback. He's probably playing at a Pro Bowl level right now. It is fun to watch."

Meanwhile, Hasselback himself is conscious of not letting the praises on his performance get to his head. That is, the 40-year-old NFL star remains aware of where things stand with regard his purpose in the Indianapolis Colts. Hasselback pointed out that at the end of the day, the entire football squad will still opt for Luck despite his contributions during the absence of the latter.

"I know the truth, I know what reality is," admitted Hasselback via ESPN. He went on state, "This is 100 percent Andrew Luck's team. Not only is he the quarterback of the future, but he's also been the quarterback of the past. He has earned every bit of respect that he gets in this locker room. Nothing has been given to him. It's his team. I think he and I are clear on that."

Luck is pegged to be back soon. As of the recent updates on his condition, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback is said to be "feeling better every day." Luck shared via the Indianapolis Star, "Getting some good work in, getting back into it and keep working day by day. I think I'm still focusing on making improvements every day. I'm throwing a little and getting back out there, which is always fun."
