Minecraft Overworld Update and Combat Update Release Date and New Features

By now, you have probably at least heard of Minecraft, even if you are not one of the millions that are playing the sandbox/strategy game.  Those that are in the world filled with cubic blocks have found that they can make shelters to protect from the harsh realm, as well as just outright making very wondrous creations.  Minecraft players will be pleased to know that there is a new upgrade to the popular game with the Overworld update, and this is what is known about the Release Date and New Features.  However, there still is no word about the Combat Update, which really should have arrived last year.

According to Gotta Be Mobile, Microsoft and Mojang revealed that they are just about ready to roll out a massive Minecraft update to the iPhone, iPad, and those that purchased the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition directly from the company's own Windows Store.  This Minecraft Overworld is going to add a lot of new elements to the game such as magic themed items, new outfits, and all kinds of mechanical things.

For those that want to make some complex machinery, the mechanical items include some hoppers, droppers, dispensers, comparators, and repeaters.  As for the new objects, they tend to be spooky in their theme with witches, witch huts, new swamps, and even cauldrons for players to spawn that automatically filled with a randomly generated potion.  By the way, the cauldron allows the user to dye the armor that their player character is wearing.

Some of these features already exist within the franchise, but with the Overworld update, Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Edition owners will have it for the first time.  Engadget reports that players are going to be able to show off their most prized possessions, whether it is loot or a fully-explored map, as it comes with a new addition known as Item Frames.  What is going to make the players happy is a number of mechanical things, which will help players to build even cooler mechanical creations.

As big as the Overworld update is to Minecraft, it doesn't seem to be connected to the long-awaited Combat Update, otherwise known as Update 1.9.  As the name implies, Minecraft's Gamepedia describes this update as putting an emphasis on fighting and combat.  This major update was supposed to arrive in 2015, but it was announced that last year would be the year where Minecraft would not have a great update.

As for the new Overworld update, it is rather large, and should arrive later this month (possibly at the end of it) to the Minecraft Pocket Edition and the Minecraft Windows 10 Edition.  As for when this Combat Update is going to come, it is anyone's guess.
