One of the most popular military shooting games is now available on Android phones. Counter-Strike 1.6 is now playable on mobile devices, thanks to the efforts of developer Alibek Omarov. Although this version is not an official release by Valve Corporation, shooting-game fans will definitely love it.

The Android version of Counter Strike relies on touchscreen controls. For players who want to have more shooting precision, they can simply connect a mouse and keyboard on their devices using an OTG cable.

Before downloading the CS 1.6, players should make sure that they have a Steam account to install the game successfully.  Check out the installation instructions below, courtesy of Github.

  • Install the APK. Devices with multi-core features should install APK file with omp postfix, while single-core devices should install noomp postfix.
  • Get the latest Xash3D Android from here and install it.
  • Copy cstrike and valve folders from your Steam CS1.6 installation to xash folder on SDCard.
  • Run CS16Client!

In a gameplay sample posted on Youtube, the transition from PC to phone isn't flawless. However, it takes a lot of time and skills to convert a desktop game into a mobile game. Nevertheless, it's still an impressive achievement to get the much-loved game running on a portable platform.

The developer even went so far to add customizable touch screen controls. In addition, movements seem so smooth, and weapons can be changed and fired with a tap.

Interestingly, the first version of the Counter-Strike was released in 2000, and the 1.6 version became available in 2013. Even though a decade has passed, the game still has dedicated fan base. Its latest version is the 2014's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS Go), which is used in e-sports tournaments.

International Business Times reported CS GO broke viewing records this year during its Major League Gaming event in Ohio. The military shooting game had 71 million live and on-demand views and 45 million hours of live broadcasts, making it one of the most popular competitive tactical shooter games.

Spanning across two 10-week seasons this year, E-League gaming features the best CS:GO teams in the world, battling it out for a massive $1.2m.

For those unaware, CS Go received an update earlier this month. The update brings bug fixes, weapons changes and map improvements in Active Duty. Check out our previous report to know more.
