Following their Super Bowl 50 victory over the Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos attracted not only the attention of the fans but also the interest of some NFL stars today. With the exit of both Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler, the Von Miller squad appears to be the perfect destination for any aspiring quarterback in the league. Since then, big names such as Robert Griffin III and TimTebow have been linked to the Denver Broncos. Interestingly, the Super Bowl 50 champs appear to be interested in one particular quarterback - the embattled Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers. However, it looks like the entry of former Philadelphia Eagles star Mark Sanchez in the Denver Broncos roster finally put a stop to their pursuit of Jarryd Hayne's troubled teammate.
Following his problematic season with the Philadelphia Eagles, Sanchez finally got a chance to start fresh when the Denver Broncos signed him. Leaving the former DeMarco Murray squad now gives him the opportunity to land a starting job - one that had alluded him as he stayed under the shadow of Sam Bradford in his former NFL team. However, it looks like Sanchez has some tough competition as the Denver Broncos are reportedly looking to sign Colin Kaepernick as well. Does this mean that the former Philadelphia Eagles star is set to be once again a backup?
"It will be interesting to see what happens in the draft. I think that if you've got to go into the season wondering who your quarterback is going to be, maybe having a backup QB that may have to start, Mark Sanchez is a really good guy to have," commented Tyler Polumbus. The retired Denver Broncos star added, "He's [Sanchez] done a lot of really good things in this league and he can definitely start. So it will be interesting to see if he just takes the reins and doesn't let them go."
Reports from people close to the team revealed that Sanchez hit the ground running in training camp. The aspiring starting quarterback has been consistent with his performance and showed remarkable promise in the past days. Moreover, Sanchez gained the respect and admiration of his teammates in the Denver Broncos locker room.
"Mark doesn't have people around him who tell him how good he is. He's a pro's pro. Every little detail matters. He puts in the time, and that's what he was doing on that day," shared Rick Stassi. The trainer added, "To see the expression on his face after he took that phone call - I will always remember how happy he was."
With the praises heaped at Sanchez's entry to the Denver Broncos roster, fans are wondering whether or not the NFL team will still consider Kaepernick. Given the promise of the quarterback, will it still be worth it to splurge on the San Francisco 49ers star? Gary Kubiak seems to have the answer.
"We need to stay focused on the guys on our team right now," said Kubiak of the Denver Broncos and potential players to enter the team. He added, "We're very excited about Mark and we know those guys are up there throwing in California, so that's exciting."
