‘NBA 2k17’ Release Date and Legend Edition With Kobe Bryant; ‘NBA 2k16’ Locker Codes and Updates to All-Time MVP Stephen Curry

May 12, 2016 02:16 PM EDT

Fans of NBA 2K16 are looking forward to the release date of NBA 2K17, which will be coming in a few months.  However, there is still a lot that NBA 2K16 can offer like an updated roster and locker codes, but for a limited time, there is going to be an update to Golden State Warriors' own Stephen "Steph" Curry.

Tuesday was another good day for Stephen Curry as he was named the first-ever unanimous MVP.  CNET shows a recent ad that you can see below showing how the video game avatar of can't do the things that the flesh-and-blood Curry can.  In fact, Curry's three-point shooting this season has been "in a realm beyond even video games".

This is why Under Armour and NBA 2K16 are maxing out the video game Curry's overall rating.  This will last for 30 hours, and will begin on 3 PM Pacific time today, which is Thursday, May 12th.  Have some fun playing with him on your side.

This actually makes a lot of sense, as a recent podcast from the Vine Report has revealed that Mike Wang, the gameplay director, has said that the developers of NBA 2K17 have had to tweak the game in order to integrate Steph Curry's moves.  This is because the game naturally penalizes things like taking deep shots from 30 to 35 feet, shooting off the dribble or shooting in traffic, but Curry seems to do these in real life.

By the way, the price of NBA 2K16 has been reduced on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and it received a new roster as of April 22nd.  Most NBA 2K16 players are also interested in Locker Codes, and there are ways to get them, such as this NBA 2K16 Codeshack here.  There was a lot of hype during the holiday season over locker codes, and hopefully the ones we previously wrote about here still work.  Some more recent ones can be found on NBA 2K Wishlist..

As for the release date of NBA 2K17, it should be out sometime later this year in September.  The Day Herald that it will probably be September 27, as the NBA 2K games follow an established release pattern in order to keep up with the real life NBA seasons.  In fact, the new game will account for roster moves to be made during this summer.  It is also expected that the fans of the NBA 2K franchise will be getting a better gaming experience with additional gameplay tweaks and improvements to be introduced as well.

We have previously reported on how there will be an NBA 2K17, the Legend Edition, featuring Kobe Bryant.  The price of this edition is $79.99, and will feature some physical items like a limited edition Kobe poster, two Kobe Panini trading cards, as well as a Black Mamba game controller skin.  It will also feature some digital content such as 30,000 of Virtual Currency, a My TEAM Bundle (with 3 packs of guaranteed Kobe limited use card), Nike Kobe 11 retirement shoes, Kobe #8 Mitchel and Ness Jersey, and a Kobe hoodie.

The actual cover star of the regular edition of the game will made in June during the "NBA 2K16 Road to the Finals" championship event.

It is possible to pre-order NBA 2K17 now, and Amazon Prime members can get a savings of 20 percent with a standard edition at $59.99.  It is available on regular generation consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, but it is also going to be available on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
