Tim Tebow is currently a free agent and is practically in limbo regarding his status in the NFL. But, many of his fans are still hoping that he will return and play for the Denver Broncos.

Right now, Tebow is keeping himself busy with various things such as his latest book "Shaken," which focuses on his rollercoaster experience playing college and professional football.

But, regarding his professional career, fans would still prefer to see him on the field, according to News Everyday. Specifically, they would like to see their idol return to the Broncos. They even launched a petition last month and had already gathered over 10,000 signatures.

Of course, during his career, Tebow jumped from one team to another. But, it was the Broncos that kicked off his professional career by selecting him during the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. But, after the arrival of Peyton Manning, Tebow was traded to the New York Jets. He then ended up with the New England Patriots in 2013 before landing in Philadelphia last year.

Getting back Tebow can be a good move for the Broncos especially given the team's status regarding its quarterback lineup. Despite winning 2015's Super Bowl, Denver was immediately thrown into a tight spot after losing two of its key players.

Shortly after securing the championship, Manning announced his retirement and his backup, Brock Osweiler, left the Broncos to be with the Houston Texans. This, however, doesn't mean that Denver's roster has weakened. Within the last few months, the team was able to bounce back by signing Mark Sanchez and drafting Paxton Lynch.

Sanchez is expected to guide Lynch since he is a more experienced professional player. However, he may not be the best pick for the Broncos given his questionable performance. During his time with the Jets, Sanchez was benched and replaced by Tebow due to his inconsistencies. This happened again in 2015 when the Eagles decided to bench him for not winning games when he was a starter.

This situation could then offer an open door for Tebow if he ever wants to return to the NFL. But then again, it is not yet clear at this point if he will play again for the Broncos or if the team would want to re-sign him.
