2017 Nissan GT-R Release Date, Specs, and Price

The improved Nissan GT-R was revealed at this year's New York Auto show. The 2017 GT-R is expected to boast sportier design over the 2016 model with a more luxurious interior, updated infotainment system, and an additional 20 horsepower. Now, here's what is currently known about 2017 Nissan GT-R release date, specs and price.

Nissan significantly reworked the new GT-R's aerodynamic technology.  Engineers reportedly built the car with stiffen body, improved torsional rigidity and better steering response.  Also, it has massaged front and rear ends, a revamped bonnet and extended side sills.

According to Car and Advice, 2017 GT-R has more techy and muscular design with more remarkable on-road presence than any of its previous versions.  It's lighter and less boomy exhaust system is partnered with a noise cancellation system similar to in-flight headphones. Industry experts say Nissan revised the car's  bodywork to help it slip through the air with less fuss.

Inside, the driver's instrumentation looks sophisticated and modern.  It has a new steering wheel with shift paddles, new seats and a better grade of leather trim. It also offers the new 8.0-inch infotainment screen, which features large icons and new display command control for easier operation.  Moreover, there's plus NissanConnectSM with Navigation, Mobile Apps, and ServicesNissan.

Performance wise, Nissan's GT-R program Chief Hiroshi Tamura claims they deliberately created a degree of racecar harshness into the new GT-R car, as per reports from Stuff.  

Under the hood, the 2017 Nissan GT-R boasts 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that chunks out 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque. Nissan claims the car can sprint for up to 100km/h in just 2.7 seconds.

Its chassis has been stiffened and the transmission has been tweaked for smoother shifts.  One of the main improvements is in tractability and corner exit drive. Also, the GT-R's six-speed dual clutch transmission and all-wheel-drive system have been reworked for improved driver response.

Auto Guide says the 2017 Nissan GT-R will hit dealerships this summer.  The price of the 2017 Nissan GT-R Premium will start around $111,585, which includes destination charge.  Buyers can also choose three paint shades: Super Silver ($3,000), Blaze Metallic ($1,000) and Pearl White ($1,000). Floor mats cost additional $295.

Compare to last year's model, Nissan increased the GT-R's price by $8,220.
