Dreamworks and Netflix had teamed up to release the reboot of Voltron last month. The Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, leading viewers to believe there is a second season for the show. Netflix has not yet announced its production, but rumors around the internet hint there will be a sequel. Now, here's the latest round-up of update about Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 release date, spoilers, and rumors.

At the end of the first season, the mother ship was getting lost in some kind of hyperspace. Also, some of the lions were separated to each other. Expect the first few episodes of Season 2 will show how the team will get back together again.

One of the major plot changes in Season 1 was the introduction of Pidge, the tech-savvy pilot of the green lion. Her gender was not revealed until midway through the first season. She almost left the group to look for her missing father and brother. If her family is still alive, there might be a reunion.

Furthermore, the Voltron reboot gave the backstory of Shiro, who have experimented on and brainwashed by the Galra. For the second season, it would be good to know more about his escape in a flashback episode.

For those unaware, the main characters of the Voltron reboot are Keith (voiced by Steven Yeun), Lance (Jeremy Shada), Pidge (Bex Taylor-Klaus), Shiro (Josh Keaton) and Hunk (Tyler Labine). Each of them has flying lion-robot that is quite tricky to operate.

According to Forbes, the characters in the show are well written. In addition, the animation is solid and the mecha design is on point.

One of the main themes of the show is teamwork. All of the five pilots have to work together and act as one to accomplish important missions. They have to learn to trust each other as they are the last line of defense against evil King Zarkon.

Speaking of Zarkon, it is interesting to see why he has a lot of power. It is rumored that has been gathering up energy for 10,000 years and he is the original Black Lion Palidin. The Second Season might shed light on his origin.

It is also interesting to know that the producers of the show hope to return for another round of robot action. "I can say that we are actively pursuing continuing the story and we're so excited by the reception that the first season has gotten that we're literally firing on all cylinders," Joaquim Dos Santos , one of the show runners, told in Star Tribune.

There's still no firm release date for the Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2, but rumors around the internet claim it might air next summer of 2017.
