NFL Rumors: Cowboys to Waive Ezekiel Elliot Due to Problematic Behavior?

The growing problem with Ezekiel Elliot's off-field behavior is reportedly causing the Dallas Cowboys to rethink their decision in signing him. If this continues, then there's a chance that Elliot might find himself getting released by the team.

The Cowboys had exceptionally high hopes for Elliot after he was drafted as the fourth overall pick during the 2016 NFL Draft. Since joining the team, Elliot has displayed what he can do on the field. Because of this, he was chosen to be the team's starting running back for the 2016 NFL season.

However, despite his skills on the field, it seems Elliot can't get himself out of trouble. As reported by TMZ, he was accused of domestic violence back in July for allegedly attacking his ex-girlfriend. The athlete denied the incident and his father Stacy Elliot maintained that his son was innocent.

"The reported allegations and Internet postings regarding our son are completely false," Stacy said. "Ezekiel has done nothing wrong."

Aside from this, another controversy started by Elliot was his recent visit to a marijuana dispensary in Seattle just hours before he debuted at the NFL preseason.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas franchise, frowned upon the incident and said that it was "just not good."

Elliot admitted that going inside the dispensary was a bad move and cited his curiosity as the reason why he entered it. In a statement, he said that he has learned his lesson about keeping a good public appearance.

"You definitely got to think of the perception of things before you actually do certain things," he said according to Yahoo! Sports. "It may not seem like a big deal to you yourself but there is a bigger picture."

"It's definitely a learning experience about the scrutiny," he added. "You just got to be careful and not give anyone a chance to say anything."

Despite his behavior, the Cowboys will probably not let him go just yet especially given the current status of their roster. For his NFL debut, the entire organization is looking to him to lead the team since Tony Romo, Randy Gregory and Rolando McClain are expected to miss games this year.

As noted by Fansided, Romo is currently injured whole McClain and Gregory have been suspended by the league.
